Summer Blossoms Serger Table Runner – Beginner Serger Project

Liven any picnic table with this bright, floral table runner. With eye-catching fabric and Baby Lock’s Exclusive Wave Stitch, this table runner is the perfect complement to your summer décor.

Supplies

  • Baby Lock Enlighten or Evolution
  • 1 Spool Madeira Aerolock serger thread
  • 2 Spools decorative serger thread in contrasting colors
  • All-purpose thread to match fabrics
  • ½ yard blue cotton print
  • ½ yard floral cotton print
  • Iron and Ironing board
  • Seam sealant

Instructions

  1. Cut two 18” square pieces from the blue print fabric.
  2. Cut two 18” square pieces from the floral print fabric.
  3. Thread the serger for a 3-thread wave stitch with the decorative threads in the upper and lower looper.
  4. Align one side of one blue print square to one blossom square with wrong
    sides together. Serge the two together using the wave stitch.
  5. Continue adding squares alternating the colors.
  6. Once all the squares are connected, serge across the ends. Press the seams down.
  7. Then serge both long sides.
  8. Place a drop of seam sealant on the serger tails. Once dry clip the excess threads.

Robbers Cave also enjoys notoriety as a former hideout for outlaws Jesse James and Belle Starr.
